My name is Christy McDade. Right before I hit age 51, I ballooned to 248 pounds! Worse, my cortisol levels were high, due to stress.
I was working 10-12 hours a day. Mostly of those days were without a break! Sleep was lacking. My appetite and weight were up and down.
Being diabetic, I had to watch my sugar intake. But you know how it is. Sometimes, I couldn't resist a sugar hit! It got harder to stay in shape.
I couldn't go on long walks. Plus, going to the gym felt like the last thing I wanted to do. The idea of lifting weights or running on a treadmill seemed impossible.
I wanted to feel better, do more, and get into better shape. I just didn't have the energy or time to do it.
That all changed one day, when someone I cared about got a health scare.
That "someone" I care about is my husband. On the spot, he decided he wanted to be healthier and be around for me.
But I had my reasons to get in the best shape of my life. I wanted to:
Be around for my three adult children, and any future grandbabies I can get (fingers crossed)!
Stop feeling tired, so I could go walking on the path we see everyday from our deck.
Have lower stress, so I can feel good, and be in a good mood (sorry honey)!
Mood swings because toxins affect your central nervous system and hormones.
The biggest reason was I wanted to reboot my life! I wanted to get healthier, too! So, I got "scared healthy", and decided to do something about I had been avoiding...
Like you, I tried every trick, tip, and weight loss gimmick out there. But nothing worked. Then I realized what would work for me.
All I had to do was make small changes in my health and lifestyle. I said goodbye to...
Trying to be that "all or nothing" person who believes they have to run on a treadmill each day.
going on strict excessive diets where you feel like you're starving.
Overdoing on weight machines.
Instead, I did consistent, easy small exercises 3-5 days a week.
Not having the energy to workout when I want for as long as I want.
At first, I sweat like a hog! But the exercises got easier one percent at time. The best part was I was able to go back to the gym the next day.
I was tired the first few times, but then my working out got easier! All because I started with small, and easy exercises!
But I didn't stop there.
I had to make another type of change when it came to my health.
Did you know nutrition makes up 85% of your weight loss? Yes, I used to think I had to lift heavy weighs, run forever on a treadmill or elliptical, but neither is true!
I discovered, I needed to eat smaller portions of delicious, healthier foods. One problem...
I didn't always have the time and energy to make dinner. Plus, eating out meant eating too much salt, sugar or dairy.
Instead of wasting money on that I bought a meal subscription service. Each Monday, they deliver four nutritious meals, I don't have to make!
Guess what happened?
My cravings got better, so I stopped eating everything in sight.
I started losing more weight at a steady, safe, healthy pace.
My clothes started to get baggier, as I dropped down in sizes.
I started sleeping longer, and feeling rested in the morning.
Got more energy to tackle my day.
My mood improved by the day.
Combining those easy-t-do, workouts consistently with nutritious, prepared meals, helped me lose 65 pounds and counting, I didn't think I could lose!
Having a "small changes mindset" helped me get closer to my goal weight!
Right now, I'm at 188 pounds. But if I keep doing my small healthy habits one day at a time, I will reach my goal weight of 170 pounds.
If I can do it, so can you! In fact, you can get started today. All it takes is making small changes like I learned to do.
Don't get me wrong. I do real WORK in the gym. I eat delicious and healthy meals each day. Yes, I do budget in a cheat meal here and there.
But I steadily lose weight, keep it off, and have stayed healthier ever since November of 2024.
The difference is I do this with a sane, fun routine I know I can stick to from working out to eating.
There's one more thing I did to lose the 65 pounds I have lost so far, plus the other healthy lifestyle benefits I'm loving.
As soon as you start doing it your body responds in positive ways.
